INSIDER, November 2025
An exclusive Q&A with 2025 Stand Out leader Samatha Campbell, who is the Sr. Director Field Service International at Brigthstar Lottery.
Question 1: What trend or challenge is top of mind for you at the moment & why?
Predictive maintenance is a definite trend that is top of my mind. We offer a highly personalized service to each of our customers and no service models are designed and implemented in the same way. This customization presented us with a challenge to find a way to align our global data set to enable an automated predictive maintenance. We have managed to implement this predictive data collection, and it is incredibly exciting to begin redesigning service models for the future.
Question 2: Describe what being named a Stand Out 50 leader meant to you.
The very best part of being named a Stand Out 50 leader was that the nomination came from the team. There is no better accolade.
I was able to attend the celebratory supper in London on 30th September. This really brought the reality of being named a Stand Out 50 leader to life. Meeting such incredible service professionals and getting to be named alongside them was also a true gift.
Question 3: Please share one tangible action you feel creates a positive culture for your team.
We have a culture within the team whereby feedback at all levels is encouraged and is always listened to. This means that we can drive our strategy, direct from feedback within the field. We also encourage all levels to get involved and help with delivering our strategic initiatives and goals. We have uncovered some incredible talent within our organization in this way.
Question 4: How do you stay motivated when you’ve hit a rough patch?
Speaking to and involving the team when things get tough really helps with my motivation. Looking to the team for their perspectives and getting a different viewpoint has helped countless times to get us to the end goal. My manager is also amazing at reminding me that no matter how complex a challenge may seem, if we break it down, we can always find a way to deliver.
Question 5: Name one thing you can’t live without.
My children! This was the first answer that popped into my head when answering the question. They have totally changed my reason and motivation for working since I became a mum in 2022. My husband and I really enjoy what we do, and I love knowing that our children get to see that finding the right career is thoroughly rewarding and leads to so many wonderful opportunities.
The practice that I work hard to do, is to leave my phone outside of my working space. Moving away from the distraction of notifications that are vying for my attention really helps to make my working day as productive as possible.
Question 6: Please share a quote or person that inspires you.
I am blessed to work with so many people that inspire me daily. One person that stands out as a true inspiration is an RVP who has been an incredible role model to me and to many at our company. He has both mentored and acted as a sponsor for me. We have worked together at different companies since my first day in the workplace. He has a phenomenal way of forming close knit teams and finding ways to derive the best from the team around him.
Question 7: What’s a regular source of information/insight you find valuable?
A regular podcast that I listen to and love is HBR Ideacast. I also really enjoyed FT’s podcast, particularly the episode about what managers get wrong about Gen Z.
